On July 15, 2026, Marantz unveiled two new additions to its entry-level hi-fi range: the MODEL 70 integrated amplifier and the CD 70 CD player.
They build on the legacy of the PM6007 and CD6007 — a pairing that has introduced countless listeners to proper two-channel hi-fi. Those products were never about flashy specifications or unnecessary features. They were popular because they sounded musical, were easy to live with and worked well with a wide range of speakers.
The new MODEL 70 and CD 70 follow the same basic philosophy, but add the connectivity and usability that a modern stereo system now needs. All technical details in this article are based on HARMAN’s official launch announcement.
MODEL 70: the important upgrade is not just the wattage
The MODEL 70 delivers 50 watts per channel through an upgraded current-feedback Class A/B amplification stage. Anyone judging an amplifier only by the wattage figure may think nothing much has changed. That is exactly where spec-sheet shopping usually goes wrong.
Marantz has equipped the amplifier with a larger toroidal transformer and an enhanced power supply. In practical terms, these changes should matter more than simply chasing a bigger wattage number, because they are intended to improve speaker control, dynamic authority and overall composure.
The amplifier also uses Marantz’s proprietary HDAM circuitry and includes a high-performance DAC for digital sources. Turntable owners have not been forgotten either, with a built-in moving-magnet phono stage allowing a compatible record player to be connected directly.
The biggest day-to-day upgrade, however, may be HDMI ARC. It allows the MODEL 70 to handle television audio while letting the TV remote control the amplifier’s volume. That makes it far easier to build a serious stereo system that also replaces the average soundbar.
Bluetooth has also been substantially improved. The MODEL 70 can both receive and transmit Bluetooth audio, with support for aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, AAC and SBC. You can stream music from a compatible phone or send the amplifier’s audio to wireless headphones when private listening is required.
Pre-amplifier and subwoofer outputs are also included, giving owners room to add a power amplifier, active subwoofer or other system upgrades later.

CD 70: more than another basic disc player
The CD 70 is not trying to reinvent the compact disc. Instead, Marantz has concentrated on improving the areas that actually matter: digital conversion, noise control, construction quality and usability.
It uses the same high-performance DAC found in the MODEL 70, together with Marantz HDAM circuitry. A front-mounted USB-A input also allows music files to be played directly from a USB drive, including high-resolution formats such as FLAC HD, ALAC, AIFF and DSD.
That makes the CD 70 useful for listeners who still own a physical CD collection but have also built up a library of downloaded or digitised music. One machine can handle both without forcing the owner into a completely different ecosystem.
Internally, Marantz has upgraded the power supply and reinforced the player with a double-layered chassis base, rigid isolation feet and strategically placed copper hardware. These are not glamorous features for a product listing, but reducing vibration and electrical interference is exactly the sort of work a well-designed CD player is supposed to do.
The CD 70 also includes a fully discrete headphone amplifier using HDAM technology, with adjustable gain and automatic headphone detection. It can therefore function as a capable personal-listening source without immediately requiring a separate headphone amplifier.
Why the MODEL 70 and CD 70 matter for Indian buyers
For Indian buyers entering stereo hi-fi, the PM6007 and CD6007 have long been among the safest starting points in the Marantz range. They offered the recognisable warm and musical Marantz presentation without forcing buyers into far more expensive electronics.
The MODEL 70 keeps that accessible stereo-first approach, but adds features people will genuinely use. HDMI ARC makes sense for living-room systems, while improved Bluetooth support makes everyday streaming considerably easier.
One distinction must still be understood: HDMI ARC does not turn the MODEL 70 into a home-theatre receiver. It remains a dedicated two-channel integrated amplifier designed primarily for music, with the convenience of handling TV sound.
Its 50-watt-per-channel rating should also not be considered in isolation. Whether it is suitable for a particular system will depend on the speaker’s sensitivity, impedance behaviour, listening distance, room size and expected volume. Buying an amplifier by wattage alone is an excellent way to end up with the wrong amplifier and a very confident invoice.
AV Kart already carries the Marantz CD6007 and the step-up Marantz CD 60, along with higher-end integrated amplifiers such as the Marantz MODEL 30.
This gives buyers an opportunity to compare the new models against the surrounding Marantz range with proper speaker matching and room-based guidance, rather than choosing from specifications copied across multiple grey-market listings.
India pricing and availability
At the time of writing, HARMAN’s official announcement does not include India pricing, an India launch date or confirmed local dealer availability for the MODEL 70 and CD 70.
The CD 70 is scheduled to be available through Marantz.com and selected retailers from August 15, 2026. The MODEL 70 is listed as unavailable in North America, but no India-specific timeline is provided in the announcement.
This section should be updated once Marantz India or its authorised Indian distribution channel confirms local pricing and stock availability. Until that happens, any rupee price floating around online is speculation dressed as information.
