The Revel Performa F228Be is a powerful and elegant 3-way, dual 8-inch floorstanding loudspeaker that sets a new world standard in performance. Using the award-winning Performa3 F208 as the starting point, virtually every component was re-engineered to extract the finest details, the highest level of performance, and the most emotion possible. Featuring an all-new Beryllium tweeter, the F228Be delivers unparalleled detail and accuracy with an expansive and cohesive soundstage.

The DCC technology gives the F328Be's bass performance a very solid foundation, with a sound that's smooth and controlled but still very responsive. The woofers are paired with 130mm DCC midrange drivers in dedicated sub-enclosures that isolate the midrange drivers from the woofers.

This is a clever design, ensuring that the woofers have the freedom to play without interference from any other part of the speaker. It also helps the woofers to have a more natural, rounded frequency response that complements the other speakers in the system.

What's more, the DCC technology is able to reduce vibration and produce less heat than conventional aluminum-based woofers. This is a big win for any audiophile who doesn't want to worry about their speakers generating unwanted heat.

Likewise, the DCC midrange drivers are also in their own dedicated enclosures and are housed inside 18mm-thick MDF cabinets that are fitted with five window-pane internal braces for maximum rigidity. At the heart of the Revel Performa F228Be's immaculate sound lies a 1-inch beryllium tweeter driven by massive 85mm dual ceramic magnets. The powerful tweeter is mated to a 5th-generation ceramic-coated, cast-aluminum Acoustic Lens waveguide engineered to seamlessly integrate with the directivity of the companion midrange driver. The 5.25-inch midrange driver has been updated with a larger Deep Ceramic Composite (DCC) diaphragm, bigger voice coil, and ceramic motor structure. The result is greater efficiency, less compression, improved dynamic range, reduced distortion, and increased power handling. PerformaBe crossover networks utilize all film capacitors and air core inductors in the midrange and tweeter circuits. These premium components allow Revel's world-class engineers to extract nuances and details from music that would otherwise be lost. Combined with traditional Revel high-order crossover slopes and proprietary Acoustic Lens waveguide geometry, transducer integration is seamless.

THE BEAUTY OF BERYLLIUM Beryllium - Element 4 on the Periodic Table - is a rare earth metal that is renowned for the remarkable physical properties that make it the ideal material for a high-frequency transducer. Compared to aluminum and titanium tweeter diaphragms, Beryllium offers 4.5 times the stiffness and three times more damping and does so at only half of the weight. ELEGANT DESIGN F228Be top panels are painted in stylish metallic black with raised electroformed badging. The speakers are available in a choice of four high-gloss finishes for seamless integration into any décor: Black, White, Walnut, and Metallic Silver.

The Revel F328Be features a 1-inch beryllium tweeter and a 6th-generation ceramic-coated, cast-aluminum Acoustic Lens waveguide that seamlessly integrates with the directivity of the companion midrange driver. This combination of components provides higher efficiency, improved dynamic range, reduced distortion, and increased power handling compared to aluminum or titanium tweeters.

Beryllium is an extremely rare material for speaker drivers, and the F328Be makes use of it in its tweeter to bring a wider soundstage to the listening experience. The resulting clarity is a joy to listen to and makes the music come alive in three dimensions.

As you might expect from a pair of speakers with such powerful Beryllium tweeters, the F328Be is also very sensitive to bass transients and the results are very accurate, with very little diffraction. This allows you to hear the percussion and the drums in an immediate way, which is something that I'm always impressed by.

Another feature that sets this particular speaker apart from other models in the same price bracket is the deep ceramic composite (DCC) cone woofers. This is a proprietary material that Revel refers to as "a plasma electrolytic oxidation process that uses a plasma discharge to create a coarse ceramic coating on both sides of the aluminum core."
