Can I claim GST input credit on home cinema and hi-fi equipment?

If you are GST-registered and buying for business use, yes, generally. AV gear carries 18% GST, and that portion of the price is tax a registered buyer may claim back as input credit.

Put a number on it, because most people never do. On a product priced at ₹2,54,900, ₹38,883 of that is GST sitting inside the MRP. Claim it as input credit and the real cost of the system drops by that amount. That is not a discount we fund and it is not a scheme; it is your own money, parked in the tax component, waiting for a proper invoice.

Who this applies to: businesses installing a conference room system, a showroom or restaurant audio setup, studio monitors, a demonstration theatre, an auditorium, or a hospitality space. Who it does not apply to: personal purchases for your home, which are not eligible however you route them. I would not try to dress a living room up as an office; your CA will not enjoy it and neither will the assessment.

What you need from us: a GST invoice raised on your business's GSTIN, with the correct name and address, itemised product details and the GST amount shown. We raise it on request; tell us at order time, because a retail invoice cannot be converted afterwards without a credit note and a fresh bill, and that is a delay you do not want.

What you need from your side: the purchase booked in your accounts as a business asset, and the credit claimed against the invoice once it reflects in your return. That last step is where the seller's compliance matters. An invoice from a registered, tax-depositing dealer shows up where it should; a dubious one does not, and the credit is denied to you, not to the seller.
