AVK's Review: Heco Aurora Series - Surprisingly Delightful Experience by the German Hi-Fi Brand

The Heco Aurora series is a premium line of audio speakers that are designed with performance in mind. Named after the Roman goddess Aurora, this innovative series features outstanding acoustic properties and a sophisticated visual appeal. It is designed for a wide range of room settings, and can work in either a stereo or surround setup.

The Heco Aurora Speakers Lineup

These speakers come in four different models for front stage: HECO AURORA 200, 300, 700, and 1000. Choosing the right one depends on your requirements i.e. room size, seating distance and budget. HECO's AURORA 200 and 300 are bookshelves while Aurora 700 and 1000 are floorstanding speakers. Talking about the Center Channel, there's only one option i.e. Heco Aurora Center 30 and similarly single option is provided for the subwoofer i.e. Heco Aurora Sub 30A.

A Word on Deisgn, Aesthetics & Build Quality

The Aurora 1000s are a good-looking set of tower speakers. Many tower speakers in this price range look very dour and black, but the Aurora 1000s have a white finish that looks more attractive than most loudspeakers at this price point. The front baffle and top are finished in a satin white color.

The Aurora series features a contemporary wood decor, a high-quality silk matte lacquer finish on the baffle, and an acoustic fabric grille on the front cover. The baffle is available in ivory white and ebony black, and the front cover is attached to the baffle with magnets.

The Aurora 1000 speaker's cabinet is made of durable MDF. It features a one-inch-thick front baffle and one-inch-thick side panels. The interior contains a polyfill-type stuffing to improve acoustic quality. The enclosure is held upright by thick plastic outriggers. The ports are 5" long and 1 7/8" in diameter. The flared ports minimize audible turbulence.

Heco Aurora's Technical Aspects

AURORA speakers are equipped with special bi-wiring or bi-amping to improve the sound quality. This feature requires an extra pair of channels. They also have special connection terminals. Both the floorstandings AURORA 700 and 1000 are available with a dual-level bi-amping system.

The midrange driver is mounted above the tweeter. Other manufacturers would have placed the tweeter above the midrange, which would have raised the optimal listening angle too high. With HECO's arrangement, the tweeter is located below the midrange, which means the tweeter will be at an angle that is more in line with the ears.

Should You Buy the Heco Aurora?

These speakers feature an improved sound quality that is ideal for home theater systems and surround sound setups. They also have a high-quality satin finish and modern wood decor.

The floorstanding models, Aurora 1000s and 700s are a good-looking set of tower speakers. Many tower speakers in this price range look very dour and black, but the Aurora 1000s have a white finish that looks more attractive than most loudspeakers at this price point. The front baffle and top are finished in a satin white color.Talking about the sound output, you will be surprised how the speakers performs at all the frequency bands with so much precision. Whatever you throw at them the speakers will not disappoint you.

The only thing we didn't like about the Aurora series is the Center Channel which is just fine as per the price point. Perhaps, the brand should have come up with one more option in Center Channel with better specs and performance. Overall, we are truly delighted with the outstanding range of loudspeakers by Heco.

If you're looking for a new set of loudspeakers, then you should look into HECO's Aurora series.
