Monitor Audio Silver 200 7G Overview
In order to minimize vibrations and create a rigid cabinet, Monitor Audio used the help of the National Physical Laboratory's precision laser scanning to identify resonances in the speaker's cabinet and position the internal bracing accurately. The bracing is made from threaded rods that are fastened to the back of the drivers and extend through the rear of the cabinet where they are tightened down by visible bolts. The use of this technique helps to decouple the speaker's driver and front baffle and minimizes coloration and vibrations.
This is one of Monitor Audio's unique cabinet technologies that are available in a number of models across the Silver range.
During the design phase, Monitor Audio used the National Physical Laboratory's laser scanning to help identify resonances in the speaker's cabinet. These were then used to create a cabinet with the best internal bracing possible that ensured rigidity and minimized colorations.
The acoustic properties of the Silver 200 7G are good enough to work as a stand-alone pair, though I would recommend pairing them with other Monitor Audio speakers to get the most out of their potential. Alternatively, you can use them as part of an Atmos-enabled system by mounting the speakers higher up on the wall and aiming their sound at the ceiling.

With its updated RST II driver design, this is the smallest floor-standing speaker in the 7G range and offers an enhanced contemporary aesthetic that sits perfectly amongst a variety of interior decor settings. The RST II driver design enhances the mid-range via a hexagonal reinforcement pattern, resulting in a smooth and low-distortion driver.
Using a 1" C-CAM Gold Dome Tweeter, the Silver 200 7G's sound is tidy and well-focused with detailed as well as refined mid to high-frequency range and rather slim but well-contoured bass. This means that it sounds relatively unobtrusive and can also easily handle a wide variety of musical genres with ease.
The drivers in the Silver 200 7G are a new design by Monitor Audio called RST II which features a hexagonal dimpled structure that contributes to a smooth, low-distortion sound. They are crafted from an Aluminum Magnesium alloy that is created by a process known as Finite Element Analysis.
These acoustic characteristics help the drivers to deliver low distortion and high power handling at all frequencies. It also allows them to go louder for longer without sacrificing their performance or sound quality.
