This new generation of the popular Monitor Audio Silver Series is an ideal choice for anyone looking to enjoy the big sound without the bulky speaker. With the latest developments in technology including C-CAM drivers and trickle-down RST II driver development, Monitor Audio has brought the performance of their larger Silver Series to a much smaller form factor.

The C-CAM midrange is the key to this sonic performance and is optimized to improve directivity for a smooth transition to the tweeter, while the cone geometry has also been improved to increase stiffness. The cone is shaped using a pattern of hexagonal dimples derived from RST II driver development originally developed for the Platinum II range.

There are also a few subtle design changes. The speaker is available in either dark walnut or ash finishes and is fitted with new trim that surrounds both the midrange and tweeter, a welcome change from the previously exposed drivers.

A new bass reflex port, albeit one with rifled edging, is found on the 50 7G’s rear, enabling it to be placed closer to a wall than its bigger Silver siblings. This will reduce diffraction and increase the in-room bass response - though it does put limits on placement flexibility.
